Russian military suffered its highest monthly personnel losses of 2026 in July, with nearly 43,000 troops lost during the month, the General Staff of Ukraine's Armed Forces reports.

The General Staff states Russia's monthly battlefield personnel losses this year are as follows:

January: 31,710 personnel
February: 26,090 personnel
March: 31,960 personnel
April: 32,980 personnel
May: 33,760 personnel
June: 39,290 personnel
July: 42,860 personnel (the highest monthly total of 2026).

"In total, during the first seven months of 2026, enemy personnel losses amounted to 238,650," the General Staff said.

Russian battlefield losses

Earlier this week, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia has lost about 1.6 million military personnel since the start of its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Of those, around 700,000 have been killed.

Previously, as early as January 2026, media reported that Russia's losses in the war had reached 1.2 million troops, already exceeding its losses in any war since World War II.
