JD Vance to join Trump–Zelenskyy talks – ABC News

US Vice President JD Vance will attend the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Washington, ABC News reports.
On Monday, August 18, at 1:15 p.m., a bilateral meeting between Presidents Trump and Zelenskyy will begin. US Vice President JD Vance, who effectively provoked a conflict with Zelenskyy during the February meeting of leaders in the Oval Office, will also join the talks.
At 3 p.m., a multilateral meeting between Trump and Zelenskyy with European leaders will begin.

Recall that Vance already participated in a similar meeting in the Oval Office in February. At that time, he repeatedly intervened in the discussion and openly criticized Zelenskyy for his alleged ingratitude for US assistance during the war.
On the eve of the summit in Alaska, Vance said that the US was planning a meeting between Zelenskyy and Putin to discuss possibilities for ending the war. At the same time, he stressed that no specific date had been set yet.
Despite his previous loud statements, the US Vice President publicly emphasized that the US would not negotiate with Russia to end the war without the participation of Ukraine and its partners. This was an important signal for both Kyiv and European allies.
