A new package of military aid for Ukraine from Italy is fully ready for shipment. Rome will continue to support Kyiv for as long as necessary, states Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani.
"My position is well known: we stand with Ukraine and will continue to support it for as long as necessary. The next military aid package is already ready, and we will send it to Kyiv as soon as possible," he emphasized.
The statement by the head of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs came in response to remarks by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Matteo Salvini. Earlier, Salvini publicly stated that he would seek to halt economic and military support for Ukraine from Italy.
Internal party changes in Italy
The disputes arose after Salvini was re-elected as leader of the "League" party. At an extraordinary congress, he defeated former Minister of Tourism Massimo Garavaglia.
Meanwhile, some moderate party members expressed dissatisfaction. They criticized the shift of the party toward right-wing positions and believe that the political force should return its focus to the issues of Northern Italy.
Reuters reported that US President Donald Trump has largely scaled back direct financial and military aid to Ukraine. At the same time, a victory by the Democratic Party in upcoming elections could drastically change the situation.
In Hungary, the heads of seven cities and four districts of Budapest that have Ukrainian sister cities published an open letter calling for support for Ukraine ahead of a difficult winter.
