Italy has once again delayed the shipment of the 13th package of military aid to Ukraine. It has been "frozen" until November 3, according to Il Giornale d'Italia.
Italy delays aid to Ukraine
A new batch of aid for Ukraine, described as already assembled, remains in limbo following repeated delays.
Now, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is waiting for the US midterm elections before unblocking this issue, the publication writes.
Currently, 10 months have passed since the previous aid was sent to Ukraine.
There is no final decision on halting the supplies, the publication notes, but the management of the package has faced a series of delays.
Thus, the US political calendar (the midterm elections on November 3 - ed.) is becoming a new benchmark for Italy's expectations. The outcome of the American elections could provide a new political framework, but for now, this is not an announced operational deadline.
Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini promised to seek an end to aid for Ukraine, but the government did not support him. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni expressed her dissatisfaction with him.
Furthermore, a new package of military aid for Ukraine from Italy is fully ready for shipment. This was stated by Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani.
