Italian PM announces date for Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced the upcoming Ukraine Recovery Conference. It will be held in Rome on July 10-11, 2025, according to Rai News.
"Striving for future peace and prosperity also means striving for recovery, and I am pleased to announce that the conference will take place in Rome: this is an event we deeply care about and have been working on for some time," Meloni emphasized after her meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
She also added that Ukraine will not be left alone in its recovery efforts.
"We will stand by its side for as long as it takes," she stressed.
Ukraine’s recovery
In March 2023, the World Bank estimated Ukraine’s recovery needs following the Russian invasion at $411 billion. This is higher than the previous estimate of $349 billion presented in September 2022.
At the same time, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal noted that this figure does not include losses from temporarily occupied territories.
Additionally, the World Bank, the European Commission, and the UN raised their forecasts for the total cost of Ukraine’s reconstruction and recovery to $486 billion over the next decade.
