Ukraine has proposed three formats for future peace talks. They are expected to take place in the near future at the leadership level, and Kyiv expects determination and openness to dialogue from Moscow, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reports.

"I spoke with Bundeskanzler Friedrich Merz. Ukraine and Germany share the view that the war must be ended as soon as possible with a dignified peace, and the parameters of ending this war will shape the security landscape of Europe for decades to come," the President of Ukraine noted.

According to Zelenskyy, the war is happening particularly in Europe, and Ukraine is an integral part of Europe, as Kyiv is already in negotiations to join the European Union.

"We coordinated our positions with Germany. Friedrich and I agreed to speak again," the President of Ukraine added.

Zelenskyy reported that today, security advisors will hold an online meeting to align the shared perspectives of Ukraine, Europe, and the United States.

"Yesterday, various potential formats for leader-level meetings to bring peace were also discussed - two bilateral and one trilateral," Zelenskyy emphasized.

The Ukrainian leader noted that his country is not afraid of meetings and expects the same brave approach from the Russian side.

"It is time we ended the war. Thank you to everyone who is helping." Zelensky concluded.

Trump prepares for meeting with Zelenskyy and Putin

On Wednesday, August 6, US President's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff arrived in Russia, where he met with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

Later, media reports emerged that the Russian leader proposed holding a meeting with US President Donald Trump.

According to American journalists, Trump expressed readiness for such a meeting as early as next week. Moreover, according to The New York Times, he even proposed holding trilateral talks involving Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy, which he reportedly already informed European allies about.

At the same time, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized that such a meeting would depend on concrete progress toward achieving peace in Ukraine.

That same day, Trump held a phone call with Zelenskyy, which was also joined by European partners.

Today, Trump's team has begun active preparations for potential negotiations with both Putin and Zelenskyy.

Meanwhile, Zelenskyy himself also spoke about the prospect of a new negotiation format.
