Israel is planning a new offensive on the Gaza Strip. The country’s main objective remains unchanged - the destruction of Hamas, stated Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to Reuters and The Times of Israel.

According to the Israeli Prime Minister, his country is currently on the eve of a major offensive on the Gaza Strip.

He said that it was the recommendation of the General Staff, not his own. He added that while he recommended the same, they had reached that conclusion independently.

The head of the Israeli government clarified that yesterday he held a meeting of the military cabinet, at which it was decided to intensify operations in Gaza.

Netanyahu said that it was the recommendation of the Chief of the General Staff to move to the defeat of Hamas. He believes that this will also help Israel rescue hostages along the way. Israel will not abandon this effort, he added.

He assured that this new Israeli operation would be intense. However, Netanyahu did not disclose details.

According to him, IDF troops will remain on the territory captured during the recently approved intensified operation in Gaza until the war's goal is achieved.

Israel's new offensive

Earlier, Reuters wrote that thousands of reservists in Israel have been sent summonses.

It is planned that they will replace regular army soldiers on Israel's border with Lebanon. The latter, in turn, will be involved in a new offensive in the Gaza Strip.
