Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived in the United States on April 7 and is expected to meet with US President Donald Trump, according to The Times of Israel.

According to the outlet, Netanyahu has already met with US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff.

The meeting with Trump is scheduled to take place at the White House at 1:00 p.m. local time. Netanyahu previously stated that during his visit, he plans to discuss the tariff regime that has also been imposed on Israel.

Trump’s tariffs on Israel

Netanyahu will be the first foreign leader to meet with Trump following the imposition of new tariffs on most countries around the world.

Ahead of the visit, the Netanyahu government made a decision to completely eliminate tariffs on US imports, in an attempt to avoid being targeted by Washington's new trade policy - a move that ultimately proved ineffective.

It was also reported that Trump had discussions with representatives from Israel, Vietnam, and India regarding a possible revision of the tariffs he introduced.
