First to meet Trump on tariffs revealed

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu plans to visit the White House on April 7. He intends to discuss new tariff rates with US President Donald Trump, according to Axios.
According to the publication, which referenced four informed sources, Netanyahu is scheduled to visit the White House on Monday, April 7. If the visit takes place, the Israeli Prime Minister will become the first foreign leader to meet with Trump in person to try to negotiate the removal of tariffs.
The leaders are also expected to discuss the Iranian nuclear crisis and the conflict in the Gaza Strip.
Israel had attempted to avoid the tariffs that Trump imposed on almost all countries by announcing a preemptive removal of all tariffs on American products. However, this did not work. The 17% rate that Trump set for Israel was based on a significant trade deficit between the US and Israel.
Trump called Netanyahu and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on April 3, while Netanyahu was visiting Budapest. The call was triggered by Hungary's decision to withdraw from the International Criminal Court, but Netanyahu also raised the issue of the tariffs.
Trump invited Netanyahu to the White House, though without specifying a date. A few hours later, Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One that Netanyahu would visit Washington soon, "maybe even next week."
Initially, both sides expected the visit to take place later in April, likely during Passover, which starts on April 14.
Trump's new tariffs
It should be noted that recently US President Donald Trump imposed widespread tariffs on many countries. This move shook the world, as Trump effectively launched a trade war.
Bloomberg reported that a day after the tariffs were introduced, the wealthiest people on the planet lost $208 billion.
Some countries have already announced countermeasures in response. For example, China is imposing a 34% tariff on American goods. Trump's tariff program also affects Ukraine, with a universal 10% tariff introduced for all.
Donald Trump stated that he is willing to consider reducing tariffs for other countries if a "phenomenal" offer is made.
