The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) admitted a mistake during a strike on a water distribution point in the Gaza Strip. Due to the attack, ten civilians were killed, The Times of Israel reports.

"Due to a technical malfunction in the munition, it struck dozens of meters away from the intended target," the Israel Defense Forces stated.

The Israeli military added that they have launched an investigation and "make every effort to minimize harm to uninvolved civilians."

According to the media outlet, the strike, which the Israel Defense Forces described as a technical malfunction, occurred amid continued deadlock in negotiations over a ceasefire and a hostage release deal.

Health officials in Gaza at Al-Awda Hospital stated that the strike on the water distribution point in the Nuseirat refugee camp killed 10 people, including six children.

War between Israel and Hamas

The armed conflict in the Gaza Strip has been ongoing since October 2023. At that time, Hamas militants attacked Israel, and the IDF responded by launching a ground operation in the Gaza Strip.

In January 2025, the parties agreed to a ceasefire and began a hostage exchange, but a full truce was not achieved.

In May, the Israel Defense Forces launched a new operation called Gideon's Chariot to take control of the Gaza Strip.

Recently, US President Donald Trump stated that Israel had agreed to a 60-day ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
