In 2025, the Israeli Arrow 3 air defense system will be deployed in Germany, reports the Israeli Ministry of Defense. The Arrow 3 system is designed to combat ballistic missiles.

"The Ministries of Defense of Israel and Germany have begun joint preparation and coordination for the initial deployment of Israel’s Arrow 3 system on German soil in 2025," the statement reads.

According to the report, a meeting was held at Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) between Moshe Patel, Director of the Israeli Missile Defense Organization (IMDO), Colonel Carsten Koepper, Project Manager of the Arrow 3 project for Germany, and Guy Bar Lev, Head of the Missiles and Space Department at IAI.

The two-day session included discussions with Israeli defense industries such as IAI's MLM department, Elta, Eldit Systems, and MBDA Germany.

What is known about the Arrow air defense system

The Israeli Ministry of Defense writes that the Arrow system, which includes the Arrow 2 and Arrow 3 interceptors, was developed in cooperation between Israel and the United States to combat the threat of long-range ballistic missiles. The system demonstrated its effectiveness against Iranian missile attacks on April 14 and October 1, 2024. Arrow is considered to be one of the world's most advanced defense systems using modern technology.

“The Israeli Missile Defense Organization (IMDO) at the Directorate of Defense Research & Development (DDR&D) at the IMOD continues to develop and produce Israel’s multi-layered air defense capabilities, strengthening ties and cooperation with international entities in missile defense and supporting Israel’s defense industries,” the Defense Ministry summarized.

A year ago, aviation and missile expert Valerii Romanenko explained the difference between the Patriot and the Israeli Arrow 3 air defense system. Read more about this in RBC-Ukraine's article.
