Israel urges its citizens to avoid attending national team's match in Paris
Israel has urged its citizens to refrain from attending the football match between the national teams of Israel and France, scheduled for November 14 in Paris. The advisory also extends to other events abroad, reports The Times of Israel.
Israel's National Security Council issued a warning urging citizens to avoid attending the upcoming UEFA Nations League match in Paris on Thursday, as well as other cultural and sporting events involving Israelis. The advisory follows a series of organized attacks on Maccabi Tel Aviv fans in Amsterdam after a match on November 7, which authorities have described as a pogrom.
"In the last few days, various calls have been identified among pro-Palestinians/supporters of terror group to harm Israelis and Jews, under the cover of protests and demonstrations, and while taking advantage of mass attendance (of sports and cultural events) to maximize harm and media exposure," the statement reads.
The Council, which regularly issues travel warnings, advises Israeli citizens to completely avoid events and cultural activities involving Israelis next week.
The warning also mentions threats to Jews and Israelis in Brussels, Amsterdam, and unspecified central British cities.
Additionally, the document advises Israeli travelers to avoid identifying themselves as Israelis while abroad. Travelers are encouraged to assess the risks at their destinations, particularly concerning the presence of large numbers of migrants from countries that oppose Israel.
