Israel targeted with ballistic missiles from territory of Yemen
Today, October 7, a ballistic missile was launched at Israel from the territory of Yemen. In this context, a large-scale air raid alert was announced, according to the Israel Defense Forces on Telegram.
At around 05:50 PM Kyiv time, the IDF warned that the air raid alert in central Israel was related to the launch of a surface-to-surface missile from the territory of Yemen.
Just a few minutes later, the military clarified that the enemy missile had been successfully intercepted by the Israeli Air Force.
At the same time, Israel did not specify who exactly launched the missile at the country's territory.
What preceded it
In Yemen, Houthi militants are active, and they have repeatedly attacked Israel.
In particular, on September 15, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that a Houthi missile had reached central Israel for the first time and was intercepted by air defense. Against this backdrop, the Israeli government leader promised retaliation to the militants.
On September 29, the Houthis claimed that they launched a surface-to-surface missile at Tel Aviv Airport while Netanyahu's plane was landing there.
However, the IDF later clarified that the missile was fired at least half an hour after Netanyahu's plane landed and was intercepted.
