Israeli forces carried out strikes on Doha, the capital of Qatar, on Tuesday, September 9, during the day. They targeted leaders of the Hamas group, The Times of Israel and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Telegram.

At first, reports emerged online about a series of explosions in Doha. Media outlets also published photos and videos showing thick smoke.

After some time, the IDF confirmed that Israeli forces had attacked Hamas leaders.

"The IDF and ISA conducted a precise strike targeting the senior leadership of the Hamas terrorist organization," the IDF statement said.

The military clarified that the aforementioned senior Hamas members directed the organization’s operations, bore direct responsibility for the brutal massacre of October 7, 2023, and coordinated and led the war against Israel.

The IDF also assured that prior to the strike, "measures were taken in order to mitigate harm to civilians, including the use of precise munitions and additional intelligence."

Israel’s operation against Hamas

Recently, Israel intensified its operation against Hamas militants.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the Israeli Air Force struck 50 terror towers in the Gaza Strip over two days. According to him, these attacks are only the beginning of a large-scale ground operation.

Specifically, Israel plans to take control of Gaza City, the most populous city in the Gaza Strip.
