Israel's October attack struck blow to Iran's nuclear program component - Netanyahu
An airstrike by Israel on Iran last month targeted a component of Tehran's nuclear program. This weakened the country's defense capabilities and missile production capacity, states Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
"It's not a secret. There is a specific component in their nuclear programme that was hit in this attack," Netanyahu said.
He did not specify which component was targeted but added that Iran's path to developing nuclear weapons has not been blocked.
Reuters reminded that on October 26, Israeli fighter jets carried out three waves of attacks on Iranian military facilities. This came a few weeks after Iran launched about 200 ballistic missiles at Israel. The incident occurred after a previous direct exchange of such attacks in April.
In his speech, Netanyahu provided additional details about Israel's targets during the attacks.
In particular, in April, an Israeli strike destroyed one of the four S-300 surface-to-air missile batteries supplied by Russia around Iran's capital, Tehran.
Then, in October, Israel destroyed three batteries and caused significant damage to Iran's capabilities to produce ballistic missiles and solid fuel used in long-range ballistic missiles.
According to Axios, the Israeli military destroyed an active, highly secretive nuclear weapons research facility in Iran during an attack at the end of October.
One of the primary targets was the Taleghan-2 site, located within the Parchin military complex southeast of Tehran. Satellite images show that the Taleghan-2 building was destroyed in the strike.
