Israel's largest airline suspends flights to Russia for three months
Israeli airline El Al has suspended flights from Tel Aviv to Moscow until the end of March 2025. They made the decision after assessing the situation with the Azerbaijan Airlines plane crash in Kazakhstan, reports The Times of Israel.
“After conducting a comprehensive situation assessment, El Al suspends all of its operations on the Tel Aviv-Moscow route until the end of the winter schedule,” the media quotes the company's statement.
Initially, on December 26, the airline suspended flights to Russia for a week after the plane crash in Kazakhstan.
Plane crash in Kazakhstan
On the morning of Dec.25, an Embraer 190 passenger plane of AZAL Airlines crashed in Kazakhstan. At the time of the crash, 67 people were on board. 38 people died in the plane crash.
I was en route from Baku to Grozny. According to media reports, the plane could have been shot down in Grozny, where drones had been shot down before. It was unable to land and crashed near the city of Aktau. According to Euronews, Azerbaijan has confirmed that the crash was caused by a Russian missile.
Russia still does not recognize that it shot down the plane with passengers and is trying to avoid responsibility.
