Israel reports on strikes against targets in Gaza Strip and Lebanon, downing of drone from Iraq
Over the past day, the Israel Defense Forces struck a command center of Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip, attacked Hezbollah positions in Lebanon, and downed an enemy drone heading towards Israel from Iraq, reports IDF.
The Israeli army carried out a precise strike against Hamas terrorists operating in a command-and-control center in the central part of the Gaza Strip.
The facility, previously a school named Khaled ibn al-Walid, was used by terrorists to plan and execute attacks against IDF troops and Israel.
"Prior to the strike, numerous steps were taken to mitigate the risk of harming civilians, including the use of precise munitions, aerial surveillance and additional intelligence information," the statement read.
Strikes against Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon
Additionally, the IDF noted that in recent days, Israeli Air Force strikes targeted the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, and operations were conducted in Judea and Samaria.
These extensive strikes involved over 150 fighter jets, which targeted launch sites and military infrastructure with significant amounts of weaponry in southern Lebanon.
The statement noted that this was in addition to the elimination of the head of the operational department of Hezbollah and the commander of the elite Radwan unit, Ibrahim Aqil, along with 15 other terrorists from the Hezbollah organization, including senior commanders in the Radwan command chain.
Hostile drone from Iraq
On the evening of September 22, sirens sounded in the southern Golan Heights and the Beit She'an Valley, after which military forces detected a drone launched from Iraq that crossed into Syrian territory and was heading toward Israel.
Several interceptors were deployed to intercept the drone. No casualties have been reported.
Escalation between Israel and Hezbollah
In recent months, clashes between the Israeli army and the terrorist group Hezbollah have intensified. Militants have been targeting northern Israel, while the IDF responds with strikes on Islamist positions in southern Lebanon.
On the morning of September 22, terrorists launched about 20 projectiles in northern Israel. Most of the targets were intercepted by air defense systems, but falling debris caused fires.
On September 21, the IDF attacked Hezbollah targets in Lebanon, prompting militants to retaliate with 25 rockets fired at Israel.
On September 17 and 18, hundreds of pagers, phones, gadgets, and other devices exploded among individuals affiliated with Hezbollah in Lebanon.
According to media reports, the explosives were planted by operatives of the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad. However, Israel has denied any involvement in the incidents.
