Israel is ready to forego an assault on the city of Gaza in exchange for a deal to end the war and secure the release of hostages from Hamas, according to The Times of Israel.

The statement came in response to reports in Israeli media that the US, Qatar, and Egypt are preparing to propose a comprehensive agreement that would allow all hostages to return home.

This information emerged after Netanyahu’s government announced that it would no longer consider partial agreements.

Earlier, Hamas announced its willingness to accept any agreement that would end the war, including the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces, unhindered access to humanitarian aid, and other demands.

New operation in the Gaza Strip

On August 20, Israel’s Ministry of Defense approved a plan to capture the city of Gaza, named Gideon’s Chariot II. The operation involves five divisions of the Israel Defense Forces and tens of thousands of soldiers, to completely destroy Hamas.

Shortly after, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu approved the plans to capture Gaza and restart negotiations with Hamas.

According to media reports, Israel will stop delivering humanitarian aid to the enclave’s population ahead of the assault on the city of Gaza.
