Israel prepares response to Iranian attack ahead of October 7 anniversary - Guardian
On Monday, October 7, it will be exactly one year since Hamas invaded Israel. On the eve of the anniversary, the Israeli military is expanding its operations and preparing a response to Iran's large-scale missile attack last week, reports The Guardian.
According to the newspaper, signs of Israel's imminent retaliation against Iran emerged after French President Emmanuel Macron called for an international arms embargo on Israeli weapons to be used against Gaza. Authorities have said that more than 41,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza as a result of Israel's attack, which has lasted almost a year.
“I think that today, the priority is that we return to a political solution, that we stop delivering weapons to fight in Gaza,” Macron said in an interview with France Inter.
He added that France does not supply any weapons to Israel. Macron made his comments after the Israeli Defense Forces announced that a major strike against Iran was imminent, as Israel struck targets in Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza on Saturday.
In addition to the above, information about Israel's response to Iran was provided to The Guardian by an Israeli military official on condition of anonymity.
“The IDF [Israeli military] is preparing a response to the unprecedented and unlawful Iranian attack on Israeli civilians and Israel,” he said.
