Israel confirms air strikes on Yemen, explains reasons
The Israeli Defense Forces have confirmed that a series of air strikes have recently been carried out in Yemen, according to The Times of Israel.
The Israeli Air Force's strike on the port of Al Hudaydah in Yemen was intended to prevent the Houthis from importing Iranian weapons and to inflict financial damage on the Iranian-backed group.
According to the Israeli military, the port in the Houthi-controlled city has been used repeatedly to import weapons from Iran, and therefore Israel considers it a legitimate military target.
The Israeli air strike targeted fuel depots and other facilities in the port.
At the same time, Israel noted that the strike was in response to more than 220 drones, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles launched by the Houthis at Israel over the past nine months of the war.
“The fighter jets struck military targets of the Houthi terrorist regime near the port of Al Hudaydah in Yemen in response to hundreds of attacks against the State of Israel in recent months,” the IDF said.
As we reported, yesterday, July 19, the Houthis struck Tel Aviv. As a result, one person was killed and eight others were injured.
Today, the media reported that Israel, the United States, and the United Kingdom launched joint strikes on the Yemeni port. For more information about the attack and video of the aftermath, see RBC-Ukraine's article.
