Is there nuclear strike threat to Ukraine from Belarus: Insights from US Congress
The United States has not observed any signs of tactical nuclear weapons being deployed in Belarus, stated the Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Mike Turner, during a briefing in Kyiv.
Turner was asked whether the United States observes the threat of an invasion of Ukraine from the territory of Belarus, as well as signs of possible use of nuclear weapons from the territory of Belarus.
"There is no indication that there's been any tactical weapon that has been transferred to Belarus," Turner Turner replied, adding that he would not provide details.
Turner also assured that the United States would continue to support Ukraine.
Republican Mike Turner came to Ukraine as part of a delegation of the US Congress. The delegation also included Democrat Betty McCollum, Republican Ronny Jackson, Republican Tony Gonzales, and Republican John Joyce.
What happened before
Last weekend, Belarus claimed that Ukraine was bringing its troops and equipment to the border. The Center for Countering Disinformation emphasized that the Belarusian authorities were escalating the situation.
The State Border Guard Service, commenting on such fakes, noted that Ukraine is exclusively defending itself and poses no threat. They added that they would continue to strengthen the defense at the border.
