Germany will provide Ukraine with a new military aid package worth over €2 billion. It is aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s air defense capabilities, this was announced by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, according to Der Standard.

During the Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting in Brussels, Pistorius noted that Ukraine will receive a military aid package worth around $500 million. It includes missiles for Patriot air defense systems, radar systems, and precision-guided artillery ammunition.

Germany will also provide Ukraine with two IRIS-T systems with a large number of guided missiles. Deliveries of anti-tank weapons, communication equipment, and modern small arms are also expected.

"Current events on the battlefield in Ukraine should strengthen our resolve to continue supporting Ukraine," the minister said.

According to him, Russia shows no willingness to end its war against Ukraine and tries to cover up its failures by striking peaceful Ukrainian cities. At the same time, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are significantly slowing the advance of Russian soldiers.

Pistorius specified that, according to German estimates, Russia has lost around 300,000 soldiers since the beginning of this year.

Germany’s aid to Ukraine

Earlier, German Finance Minister and Vice Chancellor Lars Klingbeil emphasized that his country will spend €9 billion annually on aid to Ukraine.

This decision was approved by the German government.

In particular, by the end of August, Germany could have already delivered eight IRIS-T air defense systems to Ukraine.
