Iran threatens Israel after elimination of Hezbollah leader
Iran threatened to escalate the conflict after the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. Iranian First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref said that this would lead to the “destruction” of Israel, reports The Guardian.
"We warn... that the unjust bloodshed... especially of Hezbollah's Secretary General, martyr Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah, will bring about their destruction," Aref said.
It should be noted that Aref was appointed by the (relatively) new Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian as his first vice president in July.
He served as vice president under former reformist President Mohammad Khatami from 2001 to 2005.
Elimination of the leader of Hezbollah
This morning, Israel officially announced the liquidation of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, who had been leading the Hezbollah group for more than 30 years.
Nasrallah was probably eliminated during yesterday's strike on the Lebanese capital by the Israeli army.
