Iran’s supreme leader threatens Israel and US with devastating response to Israeli attack
Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei threatened Israel and the US on Saturday with a devastating response to attacks on Iran and its allies, reports AP.
Khamenei made his statement amid threats from Iranian officials to strike Israel again following its attack on the Islamic Republic on October 26, which targeted military bases and other facilities, resulting in the deaths of at least five people.
"The enemies, whether the Zionist regime or the United States of America, will definitely receive a crushing response to what they are doing to Iran and the Iranian nation and to the resistance front," Khamenei stated in a video address published by Iranian state media.
The Supreme Leader did not specify the timing or scale of the anticipated attack.
Israel's strike on Iran and its response
On the night of October 26, Israel launched a retaliatory strike against Iran in response to a missile attack on its territory on October 1. The assault incapacitated a critical component of Iran's ballistic missile production program.
At that time, Iranian media reported, citing sources, that Iran allegedly had no plans to retaliate against the Israeli strike.
However, on October 31, Axios, citing sources, reported that Iran intends to strike Israel from Iraqi territory. The attack may be carried out by pro-Iranian militants. According to the sources, a large number of ballistic missiles and drones are planned to be used in the assault.
The New York Times reported that Khamenei has ordered his subordinates to prepare for a strike against Israel.
