Iran is likely planning to attack Israel in the coming days using ballistic missiles and drones. The strike is expected to be carried out from Iraqi territory, Axios informs.

Two Israeli sources told the news agency that the strike on Israel would be carried out by pro-Iranian militants in Iraq. This is likely a tactic by Tehran to avoid a retaliatory attack from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The shelling could occur before the US presidential elections.

Sources speaking to Axios claim that a large number of ballistic missiles and drones will be used in the militants' attack.

Additionally, an unnamed American official noted in a comment to Axios that Iran could quickly begin preparations for the attack if a corresponding decision is made.

Just today, the chief of staff of Iran's Supreme Leader, Mohammad Mohammadi Golpayegani, stated that his country’s response to an Israeli strike would be "strong" and would "make the enemy regret" such an attack.

Israel's strike on Iran

On October 26, Israel launched a strike on Iranian military facilities. Reports indicated that the attack targeted an Iranian space center where ballistic missiles are assembled.

This was Israel's response to a massive shelling that occurred in early October.

A few days ago, the Associated Press released satellite images of the Iranian space center, showing damage from the Israeli attack.
