Iran has reported a new strike near the Bushehr nuclear power plant. According to the Iranian side, a projectile hit near the facility's perimeter fence, killing a security guard, while the main sections of the plant were not damaged, reports The Times of Israel.

According to Iranian state media, buildings in the area near the plant were also damaged.

Iran's atomic agency said the strike occurred near the perimeter of the Bushehr NPP. According to its version, the explosion damaged one of the auxiliary buildings, but the main parts of the power plant were not affected.

Officials in Tehran also claim that this is already the fourth strike on the Bushehr nuclear power plant since the start of the current war.

"This is the fourth attack on the Bushehr power plant in the recent imposed war. The main sections of the power plant have not been damaged," the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran said in a statement.

Recall that in recent days, Donald Trump has repeatedly indicated that the US expects to end the war against Iran within the next two to three weeks. His statements suggested that Washington aims to achieve this even if Tehran does not agree to a deal.

In addition, in an address to the nation, Trump said that within two to three weeks the US would deliver a "very powerful strike" and "return Iran to the Stone Age."

At the same time, hostilities continue: earlier, US and Israeli forces destroyed the B1 bridge connecting Tehran and Karaj, and later Iran reported downing two US combat aircraft.
