The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said that its naval and air forces launched ballistic missiles and drones at the US Al-Udeid Air Base in Kuwait. US President Donald Trump has already warned Tehran of the "forced destruction" of the country, according to Middle East Eye, Anadolu, and a post by Trump on Truth Social.

In addition to the base in Kuwait, the IRGC also claims it struck the US Fifth Fleet in Port Salman in Manama, Bahrain. However, there has been no official confirmation so far.

The statement says the attacks were carried out in response to US strikes on five Iranian coastal facilities.

Kuwaiti military officials said the country's air defense systems are responding to "hostile missile and drone threats." They urged people to follow safety instructions.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump posted an angry message on his Truth Social platform, in which he threatened the use of military force against Iran.

"There may come a point when we are no longer able to be reasonable, and will be forced to militarily complete the job that we very successfully started. If that happens, the Islamic Republic of Iran will no longer exist," Trump said.

Context of the situation

The United States and Iran have exchanged strikes over the past several days. It all began with an attack by Tehran on a civilian vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.

Washington quickly responded by striking military targets in the area of the Strait of Hormuz. According to the US side, this was an act of retaliation for the Iranian attack on the civilian vessel.

As a reminder, on June 18, the United States and Iran re-signed a memorandum of understanding on ending hostilities and reopening the Strait of Hormuz, which has already officially entered into force.
