Iran has officially laid out its conditions for making peace with the US. The list is long and covers everything from sanctions to the withdrawal of US troops, according to Sky News.

What Iran demands

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi has announced the terms of Tehran’s latest peace proposal to Washington.

The Iranian side has put forward six demands:

  • Lifting of sanctions against Tehran
  • Unfreezing of Iranian funds abroad
  • End of the naval blockade of the country
  • End of the war on all fronts, particularly in Lebanon
  • Withdrawal of US troops from areas near the Iranian border
  • Payment of compensation for war damages.

Pakistan conveyed proposal to US

The Iranian peace plan reached Washington via Pakistan—a Pakistani source told Reuters that it was Islamabad that conveyed the document to the American side.

Alongside Iran's demands, it became known that the US may temporarily ease oil sanctions against Iran and allow limited peaceful nuclear activities during the negotiations.

Meanwhile, the EU stated that it may review aid to countries that support Russia or Iran. According to Kaja Kallas, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, the bloc's foreign policy must take strategic interests into account rather than be sentimental.
