Iran has enough uranium for making several nuclear warheads, says IAEA
Iran has produced enough highly enriched uranium to manufacture several nuclear warheads, according to Rafael Grossi, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), reports Bloomberg.
Inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency believe that Iran currently possesses a sufficient amount of highly enriched uranium to create multiple nuclear warheads.
"It is a very frustrating cycle. We don’t understand why they don’t provide the necessary transparency," said the Director-General of the IAEA.
Iran resumed production after November report by IAEA
Despite inspectors not detecting any diversion of Iranian uranium stocks for weapons, the production and storage of such a quantity of material raise concerns.
According to Bloomberg, in December, Iran tripled its uranium enrichment rates, reversing measures taken amid behind-the-scenes diplomacy with the United States.
Creation of nuclear weapons by Iran
Earlier reports indicated that, according to Reuters, Iran has enough uranium reserves to create three nuclear bombs. In September 2023, Iran's uranium stocks increased by 6.7 kg, reaching 128.3 kg.
It was also reported that the United States would not allow Iran to develop nuclear weapons, despite its capability to create a bomb within a few months.
