Iran denies involvement in plot to assassinate Trump - CNN
Iran has “categorically dismissed” accusations of conspiracy to assassinate Donald Trump, reports CNN. These accusations were made yesterday by the US Department of Justice.
According to court documents released by the US Department of Justice, in September, Iranian officials asked Farhad Shakeri, an Afghan national living in Tehran, to focus on surveillance and eventually kill Trump.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry characterized the allegations as “completely baseless” and rejected them. The ministry also added that “similar accusations have been made in the past,” which Iran “firmly denied.”
Moreover, the ministry said that these statements constitute a “malicious conspiracy” aimed at “further complicating the issues between the United States and Iran.”
Yesterday, the US Department of Justice indicted an Iranian man. He was involved in a plot to assassinate President-elect Donald Trump.
There have been two assassination attempts on Trump this year.
In early August, Trump's campaign even claimed that their computers had been hacked, and a Google report reported that Iran had attacked about a dozen people associated with Biden, Harris, and Trump in a sustained phishing attack.
After that, Trump, based on the threat from Iran, began to demand additional protection.
