Iran announces official version of President Raisi’s death
Iran has completed a detailed investigation into the May 19 helicopter crash that killed President Ebrahim Raisi, according to Reuters.
According to the official version, the accident in which Raisi died was caused by weather conditions and the helicopter's inability to handle the weight. It is noted that the crash was recognized as an accident.
"The investigation in the case of Ayatollah Raisi's helicopter crash has been completed ... there is complete certainty that what happened was an accident," the statement says.
In addition, it was found that the aircrew and officials followed all the necessary protocols for the security of the President.
Airplane crash with Iranian President
On Sunday, May 19, it became known that a helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi made a hard landing while flying from Azerbaijan. The search and rescue operation lasted more than 12 hours and was complicated by bad weather conditions. Turkey offered to assist in the search and sent a drone into the mountains.
On Monday morning, May 20, Iran's Vice President confirmed Raisi's death. Other high-ranking officials were among the victims of the plane crash.
