After the release of new iPhone models, issues for some users are not uncommon. This time, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max owners report unusual hissing or static noise in the speakers that occurs while charging the device, according to the tech outlet 9to5Mac.

When and how the issue appears

Reports first emerged shortly after the launch of the new Apple smartphones. According to device owners, noticeable noise appears in the speakers when the iPhone is connected to a charger, which some compare to the sound of an old radio.

In certain cases, hissing can be heard while playing audio at low volume, and sometimes even when no sound is playing.

Some users also note light crackling or hissing when scrolling web pages while the phone is charging. In some cases, these sounds are audible at minimal volume even when the device is not connected to a charger.

The severity of the issue varies from user to user. A video posted online shows one of the most pronounced examples of the defect.

Users who first noticed the problem in September continue to experience it even after updating to iOS 26.2. In some cases, replacing the smartphone with a new unit resolved the issue, but some owners report that it persists even after multiple replacements.

It is expected that Apple may fix the defect in iOS 26.3, which is due to be released in the coming weeks. However, there is currently no indication that the company has prepared the corresponding update.
