According to a well-known Weibo insider, the next-generation iPhone Air could hit the market as early as fall 2026.
MacRumors shares more details on Apple’s thinnest phone's possible release date.
What is known
The insider claims to have received information from sources indicating that the second-generation iPhone Air is scheduled for release in the fall. At the same time, the iPhone 17e is reportedly already in mass production ahead of its official presentation in the spring.
These rumors contradict other reliable reports suggesting that the release of the second iPhone Air has been postponed until March 2027. In that scenario, the device is expected to be unveiled alongside the standard iPhone 18 and the budget iPhone 18e.
Initially, the second-generation iPhone Air was expected to launch in fall 2026 together with the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and a foldable iPhone. However, weak sales of the first model may have led Apple to delay the release.
According to insiders, the new iPhone Air is set to address key user complaints. It is expected to feature a second main camera and a lower price. Other anticipated upgrades include reduced weight, a vapor chamber cooling system, and increased battery capacity.
Experts note that a fall 2026 launch for the new iPhone Air is still possible, especially if Apple has accelerated the development of new features, as this was the originally planned timeframe. However, it would be surprising if the numerous reports about a delayed release ultimately prove to be incorrect.
