Purchasing a new iPhone is always a significant event, especially if you're aiming to get the most value for your money. However, before making a decision, it's essential to consider a few key factors to avoid rushing into a purchase, according to Sky News.

You don't necessarily need to buy the flagship model to access the latest technologies, says Ernest Doku, a mobile expert at Uswitch.com. New AI features are now available on existing models like the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max.

"Apple tends to keep the price of the latest launch the same, starting at £799, which means the price for older models such as the iPhone 15, iPhone 14 and iPhone SE will decrease in line," he says.

The expert believes that if you're planning to buy the iPhone 15 Pro or Pro Max to access new and exclusive AI features, it's best to wait until the entire iPhone 16 lineup hits the market.

What is the best way to proceed?

Be patient

Ernest advises that waiting is always better. Prices for the latest model are at their peak right after launch, with very few discounts available. It’s best to wait, as many retailers will soon offer their best deals after the initial release.

Previous models could be a better option

If you don’t need the latest innovations, you’ll find it much cheaper to purchase a previous model.

Look for deals

Top deals might only be available for a limited time, so you need to keep an eye on price drops. You can also subscribe to email newsletters from vendors, as they use them to promote deals to potential customers.

Consider discontinued models

Along with launching new devices each year, Apple also stops offering certain older models to prevent oversaturating the market and to control its production lines.

These discontinued phones, like the second-generation iPhone SE, can still be purchased elsewhere, often at much lower prices.
