'Invincible' Hamas battalions on verge of destruction, Israeli MoD states
The Hamas battalions in the northern Gaza Strip are now on the verge of destruction. Previously, they seemed "invincible," according to the Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
"We have encircled the last strongholds of Hamas in Jabaliya and Shejaiya, the battalions that were considered invincible, that prepared for years to fight us, are on the verge of being dismantled," notes Gallant.
He adds that in recent days, hundreds of Hamas militants have surrendered to the Israeli forces. This, according to him, "shows what is happening" with the terrorist group.
The minister specifies that among those captured by the IDF are terrorists who participated in the attack on Israeli settlements on October 7.
Background
Since November, the Israel Defense Forces have continued their ground operation in the Gaza Strip.
Israeli soldiers have managed to take control of the northern part of the Gaza Strip, including the largest city in the Palestinian enclave - Gaza.
Currently, the IDF is continuing the operation in the southern part of the Gaza Strip. They have already surrounded Khan Younis - the second-largest city - and have even reached its center.
