Bologna shock visitors with an early goal
Inter came into the match after a 3-4 defeat to Belgium's Club Brugge in the Champions League. In addition, an injury to his thigh meant the team had to do without captain and one of its leading scorers, Lautaro Martínez.
The hosts took advantage of their opponents' problems early in the game. In the 10th minute, Juan Miranda set up Tommaso Pobega, who fired home to open the scoring.
The goal prompted Inter to push forward more aggressively in search of an equalizer. Bologna, meanwhile, tried to contain the attacks and protect their narrow lead.
Inter managed to level the score shortly before halftime. In the 44th minute, Nicolò Barella delivered a pass, and Marcus Thuram headed the ball into the net.
The teams went into the break level at 1-1.
Inter break through before Shakhtar clash
Inter continued to put pressure on the hosts' defense in the second half and eventually got their reward.
In the 69th minute, Piotr Zieliński set up Carlos Augusto, who put Inter ahead. The goal proved to be a turning point.
Bologna tried to get back into the game, but instead of scoring a second goal, they conceded a third.
In the 83rd minute, Carlos Augusto set up Ange-Yoan Bonny, who finished the move with a precise shot. The goal sealed the win for the Milan side.
Inter's next opponents will be Shakhtar Donetsk. The teams will meet in Italy on October 21 in the Champions League.
