Russia has lost over 98,000 mobilized people in the war against Ukraine. Defense Intelligence of Ukraine reports that the “Tsentr" (Center) troop grouping suffered the largest losses.

According to intelligence, between September 21, 2022, and October 31, 2024, Russia lost 98,641 mobilized soldiers. These are the Russian military's estimates.

The greatest losses among the mobilized were suffered by:

  • the “Tsentr" (Center) troop grouping of the Russian Armed Forces - 21,710 soldiers;
  • the “Zapad” (West) troop grouping - 20,155 soldiers;
  • the “Vostok” (East) military grouping - 16,770 soldiers;
  • the “Yug” (South) military grouping - 16,465 soldiers;
  • the “Dnepr” (Dnipro) military grouping - 10,449 soldiers;
  • the grouping of troops in Zaporizhzhia region - 10,120 soldiers;
  • the “Sever” (North) military grouping - 2,972 soldiers.

Ukrainian intelligence emphasizes that these statistics do not take into account the losses of Russian invaders among contractors, conscripts, mercenaries, and other regular units of the Russian army.

Total losses of the Russian army

Russian regime conceals the losses of its troops in the war against Ukraine. It also hides losses among private military companies involved in the war, as well as other paramilitary groups.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russia has already lost more than 768,000 men since the beginning of the full-scale war. At the same time, Russian opposition media report heavy losses among Russian army officers.
