In 2026, social media will reward not perfect content, but systematic and fast content. Algorithms are changing the rules of the game: a single strong post no longer saves the day, and reach increasingly comes from consistent posting rather than random virality.
Ukrainian marketer and founder of the SMM agency, Taras Tomenchuk, explains why quantity is beginning to outweigh quality, how AI can influence trust in brands, and why businesses need to clearly understand their audience.
Top social media trends in 2026
Taras Tomenchuk emphasizes that social media changes faster than habits in content creation. What worked yesterday may no longer deliver results, and 2026 clearly highlights the new rules of the game.
Trend 1 – Content volume
In 2026, volume will outperform even very high-quality but isolated pieces of content.
"Here’s an example: you post one video or post per day, while your competitor posts 50–90 pieces daily. We are entering an era where reach is achieved more easily through volume. This doesn’t mean quality no longer matters, but scale is trending," explains Tomenchuk.
This is why “content farms” will become more common. One major piece of content—like a performance, shoot, or interview—can be repurposed into dozens of formats: YouTube, Reels, TikTok, Shorts, Threads, quotes, and clips.
One piece of content – multiple platforms – multiple formats. This quickly scales reach and communicates your positioning.
"Even the perfect piece of content won’t work if people don’t know you," adds Taras.
Trend 2 – AI content
Everything related to AI, automation, and content generation will continue to grow. But it’s crucial not to overdo it.
The anti-trend is AI content that is obviously generated and used inappropriately. For example, showing a new clothing collection solely through AI models makes it clear to viewers that these aren’t real people. Such content is increasingly seen negatively.
AI works best when it is situational, adapted, appropriate, and its purpose is clear.
"And don’t forget: according to Meta rules, AI content must be labeled, which can also affect trust and sales," emphasizes Tomenchuk.
Trend 3 – Micro-segmentation
There is far more content today than a few years ago. Simply “making something for everyone” no longer works. It’s essential to clearly understand who you are creating content for and who you want around you.
Trends targeting a broad audience may bring reach, but real value comes from focus.
For example, if you are a business or expert, joking on TikTok doesn’t always make sense if that’s not your audience. Micro-segmentation combined with the right content forms the foundation for building a strong community.
Trend 4 – Humanity over perfection
"This has been said by many, but I’ll repeat it: simple, live ‘here and now’ content is far more effective than polished, perfect images," says the marketer.
This is about not being afraid to be imperfect, facing criticism, and showing authenticity.
"This is how a community forms: some won’t connect with you, but others will become your fans. Speed and sincerity are more important today than perfect editing or precise framing," he adds.
In 2026, those who will win are the ones who:
-
Publish more content;
-
Do it faster and more authentically;
-
Clearly understand their audience;
-
Build a community through sincerity rather than perfection.
They will achieve far more than those posting one piece of content per week and waiting for the perfect moment.
