Inside Ozzy Osbourne's heartbreaking final day - Rock world mourns

Although the musician's serious health problems had long been known, news of his death came as a surprise to many, especially considering that just a few weeks ago, he had last appeared on stage during the Back to the Beginning concert in Birmingham.

Moreover, two days before his death, his daughter Kelly Osbourne posted a video with her father on social media in which Ozzy appeared cheerful. In the video, he was having breakfast and waving at the camera.

What is known about Ozzy Osbourne's death

According to the media, at 10:30 AM on July 22, emergency services received a report about the rocker's critical condition.

A Thames Valley Air Ambulance helicopter took off from the RAF Benson base in Oxfordshire, approximately 43 kilometers from his home.

The helicopter landed on the grounds of Ozzy's estate. Medical personnel remained on site for about two hours, providing resuscitation. Unfortunately, Osbourne could not be saved. The 76-year-old Black Sabbath frontman died at his Welders House estate, which is a listed historic building.

At the same time, residents of a nearby settlement noticed a red helicopter near the Osbourne mansion.

"We immediately feared it may be for him as he was known to be in fragile health," said one eyewitness.

At 12:30 AM, the helicopter took off again.

A source close to the legendary musician's family told People magazine that Ozzy passed away peacefully.

"Sharon's (Ozzy Osbourne's last wife—ed.) deepest hope was fulfilled, and this is her focus now. Ozzy’s final days were spent in England, surrounded by family, music, and in the place he called home. He was in peace," the insider said.

They added that the farewell concert, Back to the Beginning, held great significance for Osbourne. It became the symbolic conclusion of his career.

In recent years, the musician openly spoke about his serious health issues, including Parkinson's disease diagnosed in 2019 and chronic spinal problems that limited his mobility.

Ozzy Osbourne: Brief biography

The musician's real name was John Michael Osbourne. He was born on December 3, 1948.

A British rock singer and musician, he was one of the founders and members of the band Black Sabbath, which significantly influenced the emergence of musical styles such as hard rock and heavy metal.

The success of his career and his popularity earned him the unofficial title of "Godfather of Heavy Metal."

After leaving Black Sabbath, he began a solo career. As of December 2010, over 100 million records featuring him had been sold worldwide.

On July 5, 2025, Osbourne gave his final concert as part of "Back to the Beginning," despite his health problems.

Earlier that same year, he announced it would be his last live performance, although he intended to continue recording music. He died seventeen days later.
