Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi pledged support for efforts to achieve peace in Ukraine. He made the statement in New Delhi after meeting with his Polish counterpart, Donald Tusk.
The leaders summed up their talks, during which they discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation.
"Let us remember what is happening in Ukraine. We will support all efforts aimed at achieving peace," Modi said.
He emphasized that the India-Poland strategic partnership opens up new opportunities. The partnership began during Modi's visit to Warsaw in August 2024.
According to the Indian prime minister, this also applies to prospects for a free trade agreement between India and the European Union, expected to take effect in 2027.
Minister Tusk, in turn, highlighted Poland's assistance to Indian students who were in Ukraine after Russia launched its full-scale invasion in 2022.
He promised they would work together to ensure India, Poland, and Europe were as safe and independent as possible from countries that dominate these areas.
