India plane crash: What preliminary report reveals

Before the crash of an Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner in India, the pilots reported that fuel supply to the engines had been cut off, according to the BBC.
Indian authorities have released preliminary findings from the crash investigation, which state that the fuel switches were turned off after takeoff, causing the engines to lose thrust.
The cockpit voice recorder was decoded, and according to the report, one of the pilots asked the other why he had pressed the cutoff button. The other responded that he had not done so.
According to the report, the fuel switches were later moved back to the run position. Preliminary investigation data indicate that during the crash, one of the engines began to generate thrust, but the second did not have time to do so.
