Increase in passenger flow at Ukraine-Poland border: What’s behind it?
Ukrainians are crossing the border more often through checkpoints on the border with Poland. The reason is the tourist season, according to the Western Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
"At the checkpoints, border guards have recorded a 40% increase in passenger traffic," the border guards said in a statement.
According to their data, over 9,000 vehicles and more than 60,000 people crossed the border at checkpoints in the Lviv region yesterday alone.
Most often, travelers cross the Krakovets, Shehyni and Rava-Ruska checkpoints, so there are periodic queues there. At the same time, the traffic dynamics at Smilnytsia, Hrushev, and Uhryniv are less dynamic.
"To reduce waiting time, we advise you to choose less busy checkpoints for crossing the border," the border guards said.
New checkpoint on the border with Hungary
Earlier, Ukraine and Hungary approved an agreement that provides for the opening of another checkpoint on the border between the two countries.
The new Velyka Palad-Nagyhódos checkpoint is intended for passenger vehicles.
