In Russia, Egyptian national receives draft notice alongside citizenship
In Russia, an Egyptian student was mobilized to participate in the war against Ukraine after he received Russian citizenship, stated the press officer of the 79th Air Assault Brigade, Orest Drymalovskyi.
He noted that Ukrainian paratroopers captured the Egyptian national in the Kurakhove direction. The student had come to Russia to pursue a higher education in IT technologies.
However, shortly after receiving his Russian passport, he was almost immediately handed a draft notice. Within a month, the Egyptian was sent to participate in assaults near Kurakhove.
"He was lucky; he is practically the only one from the assault group who managed to survive. He was taken captive. He is an interesting person - he speaks four languages and is a polyglot. Perhaps we can exchange him for those Ukrainian guys who are in Russian captivity," Drymalovskyi said.
Mobilization of foreigners in Russia
As early as January this year, the Center for National Resistance reported that Russia was intensifying the mobilization of foreign students.
In particular, advertisements about the prospects of military service have been posted near universities in Moscow where foreign students study.
Usually, it is possible to mobilize those foreign students who have financial problems.
