Ivan Us, Chief Consultant at the Center for Foreign Policy Studies of the National Institute for Strategic Studies, in a comment to RBC-Ukraine, stated that the strengthening of ties between China and Russia is causing concern in India. As a result, the country is likely to drift towards Ukraine and the West gradually.

"In India, the US is not liked, but China is disliked even more," he said.

According to him, this sentiment also shapes India's policy and interests. "And it is through the prism of fear of China and the strengthening of China-Russia ties that I think India will gradually drift toward Ukraine and the West," Us said.

The expert believes that there are three examples of neutrality in the Global South concerning Russia's war against Ukraine. "This includes China's pro-Russian neutrality, Türkiye's pro-Ukrainian neutrality, and indeed, India's classic neutrality," Ivan Us explained.

It is worth noting that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is heading to Kyiv, where he says he will "share views" on a peaceful resolution of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

Modi visited Moscow to meet with Putin on July 8-9. The United States and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy criticized this visit, as it coincided with a Russian strike on the Ohmatdyt Children's Hospital in Kyiv.
