US President Donald Trump is to speak with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy soon, The Telegraph reports.

Earlier today, Trump said that he would speak with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy after Kyiv ratifies the minerals deal with Washington.

"We just concluded the rare earth deal with Ukraine. That’s been fully ratified and approved by their legislative branches, and so we appreciate that, and I’ll be speaking with the president in a little while, a little bit later," Trump said.

The agreement between the US and Ukraine

On the night of May 1, Ukraine and the United States signed an economic partnership agreement, also known as the minerals deal. The document, among other things, provides for the creation of an investment fund for reconstruction, which will be half Ukrainian and half American.

Earlier today, on May 8, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (Ukrainian Parliament - ed.) ratified the agreement with the United States.

The Verkhovna Rada explained what this means and what will happen next. You can find out more about this in the material by RBC-Ukraine.
