With the arrival of spring, the body often readjusts after the winter period, so even ordinary daily habits can affect overall well-being. Some routines may increase fatigue, lower immunity, and cause emotional fluctuations, according to Real Simple.

Late bedtime

Going to bed late can indeed be harmful, especially if it is a regular habit. In spring, this becomes even more noticeable as daylight changes and biological rhythms shift.

Why late sleep is undesirable:

  • It disrupts the circadian rhythm — the body gets out of sync
  • Sleep quality worsens — it becomes harder to wake up
  • Less energy during the day and poorer concentration
  • It may affect mood and hormones

Do not try to suddenly go to bed 2–3 hours earlier — shift your schedule by 15–30 minutes every 2–3 days.

Even if you went to bed late, try to wake up at the same time. After a few days, your body will naturally want to fall asleep earlier.

Avoid phones and games 30–60 minutes before bed. Choose calmer activities instead: showering, reading a book, or listening to music.

Spring is an ideal time to adjust, because there is more natural light.

Spending more time indoors

In winter, due to low temperatures and limited sunlight, people tend to stay indoors more. This habit can continue even as the weather warms.

The problem is that staying in enclosed spaces can make us feel disconnected from life. To change this, start small — open a window, drink coffee outside, or take a short walk.

Going outside can improve mood, energy, outlook, and simply the feeling of being more alive.

High caffeine consumption

When it is cold outside, people tend to reach for warm drinks, especially coffee. But too much caffeine can disrupt sleep.

Instead of completely giving up the coffee ritual, replace afternoon coffee with decaf or tea. This way, you keep the habit of warm drinks without harming your body.

Avoiding physical activity

In winter, people are less active due to cold weather and lack of daylight, which can reduce energy levels. However, this can worsen mood and increase stress.

It is best to make small changes — a 15-minute walk after work or a short home workout.

Clutter

In spring, having fewer unnecessary items can significantly reduce feelings of chaos and create a sense of lightness at home.

Start with a small area instead of the entire apartment — for example, a desk, one shelf, or a drawer. If you try to do everything at once, the brain quickly gets tired, and you may give up.

Then use the three decisions rule for each item:

  • Keep
  • Donate/sell
  • Throw away

Do not aim for perfection. It is better to spend 20–30 minutes a day for a week than to do one long, exhausting cleaning session.
