Representatives of the International Monetary Fund have arrived in Kyiv. They will discuss the budget and taxes, according to Vahram Stepanyan, IMF Resident Representative in Ukraine.

"A team of IMF specialists led by Gavin Gray begins meetings in Kyiv today with representatives of the Ukrainian authorities and other partners. Discussions will focus on the government's fiscal plans for the second half of this year and the medium term," the statement says.

Program with IMF

Ukraine's agreement with the IMF on a $15.6 billion EFF program was approved in March 2023. The program has already received five tranches totaling about $7.6 billion, including $900 million in March and the last tranche of $2.2 billion in July.

In 2024, Ukraine may receive two more tranches of $1.1 billion each (in October and December).

As part of the program, Ukraine also received political commitments from its partners to disburse $122 billion by 2027. At the same time, the IMF has developed a negative scenario for Ukraine's economy in the event of a protracted war. In this case, total financing for Ukraine will increase to $140.7 billion.
