IDF withdrawing forces, missile systems from southern Lebanon
Israeli reserve forces are withdrawing a significant amount of weapons, rockets, and launchers from southern Lebanon. This indicates successful strikes and a substantial reduction in the capabilities of the Hezbollah group in the region, according to IDF Chief of the General Staff LTG Herzi Halevi.
On Tuesday, November 12, Halevi assessed the situation in southern Lebanon with the Commanding Officer of Northern Command, MG Ori Gordin, the Commanding Officer of the 91st Division, BG Shay Kalper, and other commanders.
Halevi also addressed the reserve commanders and soldiers operating in this sector.
He noted that the IDF had deprived Hezbollah of significant combat capabilities following the elimination of "from Nasrallah, to Hezbollah’s Jihad Council, commanders of its units and different sectors, subdivisions, compounds, and many of its operatives."
Halevi also highlighted the very important withdrawal of a significant amount of weapons, rockets, and launchers from the area.
"The IDF is simultaneously operating very strongly, and we struck heavily against Hezbollah targets in Beirut, the Dahieh, and other locations. We are conducting deep strikes and striking frequently in Syria and along the Syria-Lebanon border to prevent weapons transfers to Hezbollah. Clearing this area will provide the basic conditions to do things correctly in order to really ensure that the valley below will be secure," Halevi said.
Israel-Hezbollah war
Since October 1, the IDF has been conducting a ground operation in southern Lebanon against the terrorist group Hezbollah, which has been continuously shelling northern Israel.
On November 9, Halevi reported that the IDF had eliminated about 1,000 Hezbollah terrorists in the Jabalia area of the Gaza Strip and captured nearly as many, dealing a severe blow to the Hamas group.
On November 8, it was reported that the IDF had destroyed Hezbollah launchers used by militants to target Israeli cities.
The Israeli military also blew up Hezbollah weapon depots in Syria.
