IDF attacks Hezbollah bank, terrorists launch hundreds of rockets at Israel
The Israel Defense Forces have shelled southern areas of Beirut, targeting a bank office that finances operations for the Hezbollah group, according to the Times of Israel and the Telegram channel of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
Israeli forces struck branches of the financial association Al-Qard Al-Hassan, linked to the Hezbollah group. The military warned that they were targeting a quasi-bank, accusing it of financing terrorist operations.
Lebanon's official National News Agency reported eleven strikes in the southern suburbs of Beirut, most of which were aimed at Al-Qard Al-Hassan.
The NNA noted that one strike hit the area of Beirut International Airport. An AFP correspondent reported that commercial flights continued to pass through smoke in the area as they landed at the airport in the southern part of the Lebanese capital.
Video footage shows the airport operating as usual.
The NNA also reported strikes directed against the association in Hermel, Riyaq, and Baalbek in the Beqaa Valley region in Lebanon’s east, approximately 100 kilometers from the Israeli border.
The strike in Baalbek targeted a commercial market where a building previously used by the Al-Qard Al-Hassan association was located.
Overall, on Sunday, October 20, Hezbollah terrorists fired approximately 200 projectiles from Lebanon into Israeli territory.
Escalation in the Middle East
In recent months, the frequency of shelling by Lebanese militants of the Hezbollah group targeting Israeli territory has significantly increased. These extensive attacks have forced Israelis to evacuate northern areas of the country.
On October 1, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) initiated a ground operation against Hezbollah to push the enemy away from the border and allow residents to return to their homes.
In recent days, Israeli military forces have engaged in close combat with Lebanese terrorists, eliminating several enemy launch sites.
The Israeli army discovered advanced weaponry from Russia at the militants' bases.
Meanwhile, the US has urged Tel Aviv to reduce the scale of its attacks on Beirut.
