Israeli army reports close combat with Hezbollah, destroyed targets in Lebanon

Israeli forces engaged in close combat with Hezbollah militants during a ground operation in southern Lebanon, inflicting significant losses on enemy personnel. They also managed to destroy rocket launchers and other terrorist equipment, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
In a statement from the Israeli military, the IDF confirmed it is continuing ground operations in southern Lebanon, focusing on "dismantle Hezbollah terrorist infrastructure sites, eliminate terrorists and confiscate weapons that were located."
The Israeli side reported that during several skirmishes, their forces eliminated militants in "close-quarter encounters."
The IDF stated they had "eliminated over 65 Hezbollah terrorists in southern Lebanon."
"The troops eliminated dozens of terrorists during close-quarter encounters on the ground and aerial strikes, dismantled numerous terrorist infrastructure sites," the statement added.

The IDF also reported that in the past 24 hours, its forces carried out approximately 175 strikes on militant targets in Gaza and Lebanon.
" Among the targets struck were weapons storage facilities, launching pits and terrorist infrastructure sites belonging to the Hamas and Hezbollah terrorist organizations," the IDF added.
Earlier, it was reported that Israel began a ground operation in southern Lebanon on the night of October 1. The IDF stated that ground forces, supported by air and artillery strikes, are targeting Hezbollah's military assets in the region.

Additionally, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently stated that IDF forces had discovered "the most modern" Russian-made weapons at Hezbollah bases in southern Lebanon.
